This weekend I went up to see Dasha. She asked me if I ever lifted weights. I mean, who hasn’t lifted weights before? I nearly scoffed at the question. Of course I’ve lifted weights.
So we woke up Saturday morning and she wanted to do some upper body and abdominal work with free weights. She took her eight pounders and let me have the five pounders, which was very charitable.
I’m not exactly sure how long we lifted. Maybe an hour, maybe more, maybe less. All I realized, very quickly, was that we were not simply lifting weights the way I do at home–picking up my weights and doing a few bicep curls and lifting them over my head and calling it good.
No, I was at Dasha’s Boot Camp for Fat and Lazy Girls.
And the workout literally kicked my ass. Well, my ass and my arms and my nearly nonexistent abdominal muscles.
